LSU Health Sciences Center, Human Development Center seeks to hire a Transition Specialist for an innovative post-secondary education and paid apprenticeship program for high school students with disabilities, the Pay Check project. Job duties include: provide support to participants in learning and demonstrating essential knowledge and skills in higher education, community and apprenticeship sites. The encumbant will provide one-on-one support and group support to participants to ensure their successful progress through the program, and achievement of all targeted goals/objectives using a broad set of skills, including, but not limited to: systematic instruction, job coaching, assessment, natural supports, universal design for learning, etc. In addition, Transition Specialists will collect required data, enter data in project databases, assist with preparing reports, and participate in meetings related to participants on their case load, as assigned. Transition Specialists assist in the development and implementation of person centered plans and individual plans for employment for each participant with input from the planning team.
Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation, Special Education, or other Human Service related field. Certification as Employment Support Professional or eligible to sit for CESP exam within six-months of hire. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Master’s degree is preferred in Rehabilitation, Special Education, or other Human Service related field with an Employment Support Specialist Cerdential.
