Must have a valid, active Pharmacy Tech license in the State of Texas
Pharmacy Technician Main Responsibilities:
1. Review patient accounts for patient medication assistance programs and ensure criteria set forth by manufacturers are met when enrolling patients into these programs. Basically, our team helps patients obtain medications from manufacturers at no cost – they are also responsible for accurately reversing charges for these accounts when patients qualify for the programs.
2. They must interact well and communicate clearly with clinical providers especially physicians
3. Follow-up on all submitted patient assistance applications.
Pharmacy Technician Additional Responsibilities:
Reviews accounts for patient medication assistance program opportunities based on requests from physicians/healthcare providers in clinic and via work queues in Epic and Epic Willow Ambulatory. Obtains approval from physician for the application by seeking physician signatures. If further clinical review is needed, coordinates discussion with Manager for final review.
Ensures that claims are created in MDCares and closed appropriately. Tracks and communicates packing slips to call center.
Utilizes tools available to identify third party coverage such TMHP Website and contacts patients if necessary. Handles inbound calls from Clinic Nurse Managers, Physicians, Clinics, and/or insurance companies as it applies to and forwards to the Manager if applicable.
Maintains all patient assistance application information in Epic by scanning documents into Epic (Registration/Media tab). Documents account activity by creating account notes for cases worked that day. Information is to be specific enough to assist in the tracking and status of the application for the Patient Finance Department or any other department needing to understand the current status of the application.
Utilizes Epic to provide information to patients and providers regarding patient assistance application status in Epic.
Interacts with all levels of clinical and administrative staff when addressing issues impacting patient assistance applications.
