Clark County Public Works is seeking an Engineer III to perform Development Engineering review/approval of complex residential, commercial, and industrial developments within Clark County.
The selected individual will perform professional engineering work including: design plan review, technical report writing, applying development code, ensuring standard specifications, verifying plan review processes and procedures, and testifying at public meetings. Reviews residential, commercial, and industrial development plans for roadway and storm drainage for compliance with County Standards. Prepares staff reports and represents Public Works at hearings for proposed developments. Provides summaries of design deficiencies and recommends the proper corrective action. Coordinates with Construction Inspection to ensure construction compliance with approved plans and specifications.
Engineer positions are represented by Local 17, Professional and Technical Employees.
Education and Experience:
B.S. degree in Civil or related engineering and two (2) years of experience in an Engineer II or equivalent position and registration as a professional civil or structural engineer;
- AND -
Possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license by date of appointment.
Knowledge of: principles and practices of civil engineering; capital infrastructure development; WSDOT Standard Specifications; construction practices, application and interpretation of design guidelines (AASHTO, WSDOT), County development codes, policies, and procedures.
Ability to: interpret codes, ordinances, and industry practices as they apply to civil engineering design; establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, private and public agencies, consultants, and citizens; interpret plans, specifications, maps; prepare reports; and communicate professionally both orally and in writing.
