Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited
by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
Active certification with ARDMS. Current compliance with CME requirements.
Skills: Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and
educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast
health. Ability to read and write and comprehend medical terminology. Ability
to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to
doctors, patients, and other employees.
Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and
sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems
involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.

Diagnostic Sonographer Summary
Diagnostic Technologist is responsible for the independent
operation of diagnostic equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements.
Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning
technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information
to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart. Communicates with the
radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams.

- Produces high-quality ultrasound
images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam.
all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly.
procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation.
monitoring during all phases of procedure with special care taken
to ensure patient emotional and physical well-being.
and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams.
radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile
technique and universal precautions.

maintenance and equipment safety.
